Linden Hills Ex-Wife Breaks Into Apartment Using Key Left Under Mat

A roundup of burglaries and other property crimes committed in Southwest Minneapolis during the last week.

A 34-year-old man subletting his condo on the 4400 block of Lake Harriet Parkway left a key for the new tenants under the apartment’s front door mat, but his ex-wife found the key, entered the condo on May 21 and removed items.

May 21

The car of a resident of the 3700 block of Nicollet Avenue was rear-ended while parked in front of the resident’s home at sometime between 10 a.m. May 20 and 11 a.m. May 21.

A resident of the 4700 block of Chowen Avenue was the victim of a multi-day theft as her bacopa plant, couch cushions and garden ornaments went missing from her front yard on consecutive nights.

The front window was broken and the GPS stolen from the car of a Minneapolis resident who had parked in the lot owned by Smith Sturm Investment Company, on the 3400 block of Emerson Avenue.

A Minnetonka resident, dining at Cafe Ena, on 46th Street and Grand Avenue, was the victim of a theft between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. when her car’s right passenger window was smashed and her cell phone stolen.

May 20

The stolen purse of a Woodbury woman was recovered near France Avenue and 50th Street.

A resident of the 3100 block of Garfield Avenue’s garage siding was melted and singed by hot barbecue coals that the resident suspected a neighbor of dumping there.

A bike was stolen from the side of a home on the 5300 block of Emerson Avenue.

May 19

A Maplewood woman’s car was hit while she left it parked at the 3200 block of Blaisdell Avenue.

Several collectible watches were stolen from a garage sale on the 4400 block of Colfax Avenue.

Bikes, CDs and change were stolen from the back porch of a home on the 4700 block of Lyndale Avenue.

A bike was stolen from the locked laundry room of an apartment on the 3400 block of Lyndale Avenue.

May 18

Two males were seen breaking a window of a car parked on the 3500 block of Harriet Avenue. A black gym bag was stolen from the back seat of the vehicle.

A woman living on the 4500 block of Nicollet Avenue filed a police report after her car’s door was dinged. She said she believed her neighbors, who drive a silver Hyundai hatchback, caused the damage because she complained about their vehicle’s alarm noise.

A Lakeville woman was arrested after attempting to dine-and-dash without paying her $26 bill at Tailgate Bar, on the 6000 block of Nicollet Avenue. The woman said she did not have any money to pay for the bill.

A resident of the 300 block of 32nd Street had a wood column on her porch broken and the bike she had locked to it stolen.

May 16

A 15-year-old Washburn High School’s gym locker was stolen from and school staff are reviewing surveillance video.

Someone stole hose and reel from the home of a 90-year-old woman living on the 3900 block of York Avenue.

May 15

A man living on the 3200 block of Blaisdell Avenue reported the loss of $695 worth of camera equipment.

About 30 feet of the black aluminum fence bordering a home on the 4900 block of Zenith Avenue was spray-painted.

Until convicted, all persons listed by police as suspected of committing a crime or listed as charged with a crime by county, state, or federal prosecutors should be considered innocent.
