Kmart Purchase Made With 90-Year-Old Woman's Stolen Credit Card

A roundup of burglaries and other property crimes committed in Southwest Minneapolis during the last week.

June 4

Two cell phones were stolen from a Minnetrista man on the 5800 block of Wentworth Avenue.

Checks were stolen from the trunk of the car of a resident of the 3100 block of Girard Avenue.

A Walser card and a small bag of change were stolen from a car parked on the 4300 block of Nokomis Avenue.

June 3

A home on the 4900 block of Fremont Avenue was burglarized through an unlocked door.

A St. Paul woman’s van was stolen from the 3700 block of Nicollet Avenue.

A Minneapolis resident’s bike was stolen from outside her home on the 3400 block of Dupont Avenue. She had locked it to a bench set in concrete.

A Minneapolis man was arrested for shoplifting from the Nicollet Avenue Cub Foods.

June 2

The garage of a home on the 4900 block of Sheridan Avenue was burglarized.

The garage of a home on the 3100 block of James Avenue was burglarized through an unlocked service door.

The car of a resident of the 3700 block of Grand Avenue was stolen when he left it parked outside his home. The man had lost a key to the car a few days before the theft.

June 1

An Eagan resident’s tires were stolen and his car left on blocks when he left it parked near the intersection of 35th Street and Bryant Avenue.

An apartment on the 3400 block of Harriet Avenue was burglarized. The suspect entered the apartment through an unlocked dining room window.

A resident of the 3400 block of Colfax Avenue told police he suspected three friends of stealing his cell phone and his girlfriend’s wallet from his apartment while he was walking his girlfriend to work.

A resident of the 3500 block of Stevens Avenue claimed his wife took items belonging to him against a judge’s orders.

An apartment on the 3700 block of Nicollet Avenue was burglarized.

May 31

A Minneapolis woman’s credit card was stolen from her car, parked near the intersection of 46th Street and Grand Avenue, and used at a nearby gas station.

There was an attempted burglary on the 4300 block of Sheridan Avenue.

May 30

A 14-year-old was apprehended for his role in a burglary on the 3300 block of Thomas Avenue.

The garage of a home on the 4600 block of Garfield Avenue was burglarized.

A bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home on the 4600 block of Stevens Avenue.

The credit card of a 90-year-old resident of the 6100 block of Lyndale Avenue was stolen and used to make a purchase at Kmart.

A 17-year-old left items below a bench while he played basketball at Martin Luther King Jr. park and the items were stolen when he returned to them.

Until convicted, all persons listed by police as suspected of committing a crime or listed as charged with a crime by county, state, or federal prosecutors should be considered innocent.
