Kingfield, Tangletown Hit By Car Theft, Break-Ins

Four incidents in a four-block area over three days.

Five cars in the last three days have been the victims of thieves and burglars near or along Pillsbury Avenue. According to Minneapolis Police Department reports, the incidents happened within four blocks of each other (see map at right).

Sometime between midnight and 6:00 a.m. on July 3, an unknown person broke into three cars on the 4200 block of Pillsbury Avenue South. The thief or thieves ransacked the vehicles, stole a Garmin GPS device from one, and removed an unspecified item from another.

In the same time period, someone gained entry into a car on the 4600 block of Pleasant Avenue South, and made off with the vehicle.

On July 4, thieves struck the area again, breaking into a car on the 200 block of West 46th Street. As in the previous thefts, the contents of the glove box and center console were rifled through. However, the police report states they didn't get away with much—the only thing missing was a (broken) cable for an MP3 player.
