Kingfield Stakeout Ends In Arrest

A roundup of recent burglaries, arrests, and other crimes in Southwest Minneapolis.

After a multiple-hour stakeout Thursday, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department’s Fifth Precinct Community Response team arrested a 21-year old Kingfield resident as he walked in his front door. The man was wanted on two felony warrants from Hennepin County for third-degree burglary and theft from a motor vehicle. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Jail Roster, he was released on bail Friday afternoon.

Officers driving down Lyndale Avenue South early Friday morning noticed a driver not wearing a seatbelt. On conducting a traffic stop, the officers discovered neither the driver nor his five passengers had valid drivers’ licenses, nor were any of them over the age of 18. All were cited for being out past curfew, transported to the Hennepin County Juvenile Supervision Center, and their car impounded.

Police arrested an Apple Valley resident on the 300 block of 35th Street West for driving while intoxicated.

A Lyndale resident reported their identity had been stolen.

A car parked on the 4900 block of France Avenue South was slightly damaged by a driver who didn’t stop to leave their insurance information.

A 16-year old CARAG resident returned home after running away from home.

A house on the 3200 block of Pleasant Avenue South was broken into. The victim reported several handguns and a jar of quarters missing.

Police arrested a 25-year old Richfield resident at the Windom Cub Foods for trying to shoplift.

Officers patrolling on the 4800 block of France Avenue South around midnight cited a 16-year old bicyclist for being out past curfew.

A Kasson, Minnesota was cited for tampering with a motor vehicle on the 6000 block of Harriet Avenue South

A 43-year old Bloomington resident was cited for fleeing officers on foot shortly after 1:00 a.m.

Officers pulled a car over on the 3400 block of 1st Avenue South for driving in the bike lane. The driver could not produce current proof of insurance.
