Kingfielder Leaves Car Doors Unlocked, Reports Theft

Southwest Minneapolis police responded to several burglary calls this week.

A few run-ins with Southwest Minneapolis thieves led one Kingfield resident, possibly out of frustration, to try a rather counterintuitive solution: leaving his car unlocked when he has valuables inside. According to his theory, as he told police, if no-one had to smash a window to get at pricey equipment, then he would only be out the cost of what was stolen.

On Mar. 5, intentionally or unintentionally, the man's theory was recently put to the test. The man parked his car in his driveway on the 3900 block of Pleasant Ave.—computer inside—and forgot about the whole thing for a week. On March 12, he checked his car and found the computer missing but the car undamaged.

While his plan seemed to work as intended, we certainly hope he was already planning on buying a new laptop.
