Kingfield House Ransacked in Burglary

Southwest Minneapolis police did not face any high-heeled streakers this week, but still kept busy with several burglaries and car crashes.

The residents of one house on the 100 block of West 44th Street have likely never had a worse homecoming. After being away all last weekend, the returned on Mar. 5 to an ominous sign—the garage door opener lying in the grass in front of the house.

Picking up the device, strangely out of place, the homeowner opened her front door, and came face-to-face with a horrible sight. According to a report filed with Minneapolis police, the owner’s possessions had been tossed about the house, dislodged, and dislocated. Two televisions, jewelry, a 50-pound safe, and an Xbox might have been missing, but the owner made straight for an old box that hid a set of car keys. To what could only have been her horror, the keys were gone from their nest, and the associated car was gone from her garage. Police speculated the thieves had realized the lock on the back door was broken.
