Family's Twin Businesses Vandalized for Fourth Time this Year

A member of the family that owns Calhoun Pet Supply and Kyle's Market said he suspected a vendetta might be at play.

Two family businesses, Calhoun Pet Supply and Kyle’s Market, near the intersection of 36th Street and Bryant Avenue were vandalized for the fourth time this year on June 12.

Someone destroyed multiple windows of the businesses and smashed the windows of nearby cars, according to the Nicollet-East Harriet Business Association. Police are looking for a 6-foot-tall white man carrying a baseball bat and have set up a video camera with a 24/7 live feed of the businesses’ storefronts.

While police do not have a clear motive for the attacks, a member of the family that owns both businesses told the Southwest Journal that he believes the violence to be based on a vendetta, though he could not point to any specific conflict.

“It’s hard to say what’s going on in the guy’s head, but he looks very angry. That’s clear from the video,” Joe Liu, a Calhoun Pet Supply manager told the Southwest Journal after watching security footage.

The vandalism incidents have cost the Liu family more than $3,000 so far, the Southwest Journal reported.
