Drunk Edina Man Flees Cops After Traffic Stop

A 22-year old Edina man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail for driving drunk and fleeing officers on foot near the intersection of West 42nd Street and Queen Ave South.

Police responded to a house on the 6100 block of Upton Ave South after unknown suspects tripped a burglary alarm around 11:15 a.m.

A 42-year old man found himself on the way the Hennepin County Jail on Fifth-Degree Domestic Assault charges after twisting an 85-year old woman's arm in an attempt to take her car keys.

An evening customer at BANGBang Salon returned to her vehicle to find the passenger-side window smashed in. Nothing, however appeared to have been taken from the car.

Feb. 6

A 62-year old man from the 100 block of West 31st Street was the victim of death threats, according to his sister.

Police patrolling for truants near Washburn High School at 9:07 a.m. caught three 16-year olds and one 15-year old on the 4500 block of Nicollet Ave South. The quartet admitted they should have been in class and were transported back to school.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a resident of the 5700 block of Upton Ave South slipped fell on a glass vase in her basement. The vessel shattered, sending shards into her wrist. Police, firefighters, and paramedics quickly arrived on scene, to find the woman and her floor covered with blood, crying out for help while trying to staunch the bleeding with a towel. The woman was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

A 31-year old man assaulted another 31-year old man just after 9:45 p.m. The victim suffered a cut on the back of his head severe enough to require treatment at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Feb. 5

A police officer working at Southwest High School reported that, the previous afternoon, a pair of 15-year old students challenged each other to a fight on the corner of West 47th Street and Abbot Ave South. The officer broke up the fight as students gathered around the pair, egging them on. At the request of school administrators, the pair were cited with disorderly conduct.

An 11-year old brought a box cutter to school. The student's classmates spotted the object, and the student was sent home after being cited for brining a knife to school.
