Driver Cuts Off Cop, Gets Ticket

Minneapolis Police Department officers pulled over a car in Lyndale for not heeding a stop sign as they pulled out of a parking lot. The offending driver managed to cut off a police car as he pulled onto the 3100 block of Blaisdell Avenue South so that, according to the police report, the officer had to “come to a complete stop.” The driver said he didn't see the police officer.

A resident of the 3100 block of Aldrich Avenue South reported their car was broken into on the night of July 20

Officers on routine patrol near the Lake Harriet Bandshell around midnight cited three 17-year old women and one 16-year old woman for violating curfew.

Two 17 year-old women were cited for being out after curfew by officers patrolling for burglars in the Armatage neighborhood near midnight. The pair were in a car that had been parked in the Armatage Montessori lot, and officers checked the car because the school’s burglary alarms had been activated several times in the recent past.

Around 5:30 p.m., officers patrolling Thomas Beach cited a 55-year old Austin, Minnesota man for drinking alcohol in a public park.

Around 5:30 p.m., officers patrolling Thomas Beach were flagged down by two people who said their bags had been stolen. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Just before 7 p.m., officers tried to stop a motorcyclist driving on Nicollet Avenue South for a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, the 26-year old Brooklyn Center resident fled up the avenue and crashed his vehicle near the intersection of 40th Street and Nicollet Avenue. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended after a short foot chase and booked into the Hennepin County Jail for fleeing an officer.

A car parked on the 3200 block of Elliot Avenue South was stolen while its owner was out of town.

A car parked on the 4400 block of Queen Avenue South was broken into and a purse taken from the trunk.

A house on the 4500 block of Vincent Avenue South was egged on the night of July 29th.

Officers cited two men for illegally removing solid waste from recycling bins on the 500 block of 31st Street West. One of the men also had a warrant out of Hennepin County for a gross misdemeanor, and was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on that warrant.

A car parked on the 4000 block of Elliot Avenue South was stolen overnight.
