Brother Stabs Brother 'For No Known Reason'

A roundup of narcotics, curfew, domestic, and traffic violations in Southwest Minneapolis.

June 18

Police were dispatched on a report of a disturbance on the 3200 block of Clinton Ave South. An Eden Prairie man and a Minneapolis man were arrested for trespass.

A Minneapolis woman approached officers saying she might have a warrant out for her arrest. Officers confirmed her identity and she was booked in the Hennepin County Jail without incident.

One brother allegedly stabbed another in the hand and punched him in the eye and body “for no known reason” on the 4400 block of Clinton Avenue South. The victim reported the assault from the hospital after receiving treatment.

An officer on bike patrol around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Calhoun Parkway and 36th Street cited a Washington for the possession of an open “intoxicating beverage” in a park.

Officers cited a Minneapolis motorist for driving with an expired proof of insurance on the 100 block of West 58th Street.

Officers cited a driver on the 500 block of West 54th Street for driving with expired proof of insurance.

Officers cited a driver on the 5300 block of Xerxes Avenue South for driving with no proof of insurance.

 

June 17

At 1:50 a.m. officers on patrol stopped a 17 year-old “loitering” in the park area near the intersection of Lake Calhoun Parkway and Thomas Avenue South.  The juvenile was cited for being out after curfew.

Officers cited a man on the 5900 block of Nicollet Avenue South for driving without proof of insurance.

Seeing a man bicycling without a headlight at the intersection of 32nd Street and Pleasant Avenue South, officers stopped him to point out his violation of bicycling ordinances. When checking his identity, officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant from Hennepin County and arrested him. 

Near 4:00 a.m. officers were called to the scene of an auto collision arrested a 23-year old Minneapolis resident for driving while intoxicated, and impounded her vehicle. According to the police report, the driver struck two parked cars while attempting a u-turn on the 3500 block of Lyndale Avenue south.

A taxi driver called police to the 5900 block of Newton Avenue south when a passenger revealed they only had $4 to pay a $30 fare. Officers cited the passenger in lieu of arresting them.

 

June 16

A Windom resident was cited for fifth-degree assaulting another area resident shortly after midnight. 

Officers cited a driver on the 5800 block of Xerxes Avenue south for driving without current proof of insurance.

A 20-year old was arrested on the 4300 block of Abbot Avenue South for fleeing officers on foot and for consuming alcohol while a minor. A 19-year old Linden Hills resident was also cited for underage drinking at the same location. 

At 3:00 a.m. officers cited a 17-year old driver and his 15-year old passenger for being out after curfew. The pair had been first pulled over on the 5900 block of Nicollet Avenue for having a taillight out.

Officers arrested a man for attacking a group of four others on the 3200 block of Hennepin. He had allegedly been following the party of four for several blocks, threatening them and challenging them to a fight. The arrested man was booked into Hennepin County Jail for disorderly conduct.

Officers cited a motorist on the 5200 block of Xerxes Avenue South for driving without car insurance.

 

June 15

Officers cited an Afton resident at the intersection of 58th Street and Xerxes Avenue South for driving with recently expired proof of insurance

Officers cited two 16-year olds at the intersection of 36th Street and Aldrich Avenue South for being out past curfew.

 

June 14

Officers cited a motorist for driving after the cancellation of their license at the intersection of 36th Street and Lake Calhoun Parkway.

Officers arrested a Kenny resident for fifth-degree domestic assault. The man allegedly threw his girlfriend into a wall, ordered her to leave their apartment, then sent her threatening text messages.

 

June 13

Police cited three minors, ages 16 and 17, for the possession of numerous glass pipes in their car, typically used for smoking marijuana. The three also allegedly had a glass jar of marijuana in the car with them when officers stopped them on the 3400 block of Nicollet Avenue South. After being ticketed the minors were released to their parents.

Officers cited one driver on 58th Street West and another on the 3900 block of driving without proof of insurance, and a third on 40th Street West for driving after their license had been revoked.

 

June 12

Officers responding to reports of suspicious men walking on 51st Street West cited two 16-year olds for being out past curfew and transported them home.

Officers cited a driver on Lake Calhoun Parkway for driving without proof of insurance, and another driver on Elliot Avenue South for driving after license suspension.

Officers cited a man on the 3700 block of Thomas Avenue South for possessing alcohol in a public park.

Officers arrested and cited a 17-year old on 36th Street West for offering another minor marijuana and possessing an open beer. The incident was reported by the second minor’s mother.

Police were called to the 4600 block of Ewing Avenue South on reports of a domestic assault.
