Police Blotter: Gunshots Reported on Pleasant Ave., and Blackbird Burglarized

This blotter covers only a fraction of police reports filed in Southwest Minneapolis from April 29-May 6. All details come from Minneapolis Police Department reports.

April 30: The rear driver’s side window of a car on the 4800 block of Queen Avenue South was broken in the late evening.

April 30: The front passenger side window of a car on the 5300 block of Lyndale Avenue South was broken around 10 p.m. No items were stolen.

April 30: A 24-inch scratch appeared on a car on the 5900 block of Upton Avenue South. The car’s owner observed a neighbor, with whom they were having issues, walking by the car before the scratched was noticed. But they didn’t see the neighbor, or anyone else, scratch the car.

May 2: A window was smashed in a car on the 3500 block of Dupont Avenue South overnight.

May 3: A car was broken into on the 4200 bloc of Nicollet Avenue South overnight.

May 3: A 14-inch scratch appeared on a car on the 5000 block of Thomas Avenue South.

May 3: A GPS was stolen from an unlocked car on the 5600 block of Knox Avenue South.

May 3: A house on the 4400 block of Harriet Avenue South was robbed during the day.

May 4: About 10 p.m., a gun was fired in the alley near the 3800 block of Pleasant Avenue South. The bullet passed through the wall of a garage and windshield of a car.

May 4: A burglary occurred in the late evening at The Blackbird Café at 3800 Nicollet Avenue South. Police are investigating.

May 4: An overnight clerk at the gas station at 4553 Nicollet Avenue South refused to give a customer change for some large bills. The man responded by yelling, swearing and promising to come back with a gun and kill the clerk. His actions were recorded on in-store surveillance.

May 4: A 42-year-old man was arrested in Kingfield after he threatened both his spouse and sister-in-law. Two kids were also present.

May 5: Someone broke a window and sprayed graffiti on a house on the 5800 block of Logan Avenue South.

May 5: Crack was bought in a controlled buy by the gang enforcement officers on the 5900 block of Nicollet Avenue South.

May 5: A 39-year-old man was arrested for domestic assault of a 23-year-old woman at their apartment on the 3500 block of Bryant Avenue South at 2 a.m.

May 6: A 28-year-old man was robbed and beaten on the 3200 block of Girard Avenue South at 11:45 p.m. The victim was treated at the hospital.
