Armatage Sex Offender Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

Lamont Maceo Williams pleaded guilty to Aggravated Robbery in April.

A level-3 sex offender whose move to Armatage earlier this year has been sentenced to two years in prison for a robbery last October at 35th Street and Chicago Avenue South.

, which carried a maximum sentence of 20 years and a $35,000 fine, in April.

Williams will serve his sentence at the Lino Lakes Correctional Facility, minus 218 days for time already served, according to information released by the city of Minneapolis.

When Williams moved to Southwest Minneapolis, City Councilmember Betsy Hodges told residents in an emailed message that the police would be monitoring his behavior.

"The police department is working with his conditional release probation officer to assess the situation from here on out," Hodges wrote. "Truthfully, however, there is little the department can do to keep him in custody. And, as we discussed at the meeting, there is little we can legally do to guide his choice of residence."
