10-Year-Old Boy Assaults 11-Year-Old-Girl On School Bus

A roundup of traffic, domestic and narcotics-related violations committed in Southwest Minneapolis in the last week.

A 10-year-old boy was cited for assaulting an 11-year-old girl the afternoon of April 18.

The two shared a school bus and, just before her stop, he swung his backpack at her.

She told him to stop, but before she exited the bus, he struck the right side of her face with a closed fist, causing bruising to her cheek.

April 23

A 17-year-old student came to class smelling of marijuana and complaining of feeling ill. When school officials found a blunt in his lower pants pocket, they called police.

A resident of the 6100 block of Nicollet Avenue was assaulted at her home.

A Minneapolis man was cited for trespassing while panhandling on the corner of 31st Street and Stevens Avenue. He was holding a sign asking for money for food.

A Minneapolis man was cited near the corner of 41st Street and Upton Avenue for possession of marijuana.

A 55-year-old resident of the 4500 block of Xerxes Avenue was kicked in the stomach by her roommate. The roommate, age 50, was booked into Hennepin County Jail for domestic assault.

April 21

A Minneapolis man, driving his green SUV erratically around 1 a.m., fled police near the intersection of 53rd Street and Upton Avenue. He was found, leaving the scene on foot, with an open container of alcohol, a bottle full of marijuana and a pipe. He was booked into Hennepin County Jail.

A 15-year-old boy, reported as a runaway, returned home from his friend’s house and was cited for running away from home.

April 20

A resident of the 3300 block of Elliot Avenue was arrested on a felony warrant after he dodged a cab fare.

A Minneapolis man was arrested for fleeing a motor vehicle after he ran on foot from officers attempting a traffic stop.

April 19

A 29-year-old resident of the 5800 block of Emerson Avenue was arrested near her home after driving into a parked car while drunk.

Officers responded to multiple calls about a suspicious person on 42nd Street between Garfield and Lyndale avenues.

A resident of the 5300 block of Knox Avenue said he was a forgery victim and that someone had attempted to e-file their taxes using his information.

A 28-year-old man wearing an orange skullcap flipped off a police officer as he drove by on the 5200 block of Nicollet Avenue. When the officer stopped, the man told him he had marijuana and a pipe in his pocket and was cited for possession of narcotics.

A man was arrested at his home on the 5800 block of Lyndale Avenue with a felony warrant.

Two Minneapolis men were cited on the corner of 33rd Street and Lyndale Avenue for possession of marijuana.

Until convicted, all persons listed by police as suspected of committing a crime or listed as charged with a crime by county, state, or federal prosecutors should be considered innocent.
