Looking for inspiration for your own project? Or maybe just wanting to dream a little? Then check out the Homes By Architects Tour this weekend.
There are 16 homes in this year's tour, three of which are in Southwest Minneapolis. Each home is the product of extensive collaboration between the homeowner and the architect. According to the tour's organizers, each home showcases the best of what a collaborative approach to home design can offer.
The tour began Saturday, but each home will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, as well. At each home, tour-takers will get to meet the architects first-hand and quiz them about the home's design and the process that created it. Tickets are on sale at each home. $10 will get you into one home, and $20 will get you into all 16.
Southwest Minneapolis' three homes on the tour are:
- 4221 Ewing Avenue South, in Linden Hills. A contemporary, high-design prefab home by Alchemy Architects, Geoffrey Warner, AIA.
- 1015 West Minnehaha Parkway, in Lynnhurst. A rennovation by Kuhl Design+Build, Ashley Mitlyng, AIA.
- 330 West Elmwood Place, in Tangletown. A renovation that sought to open up the house's space and make it more flexible by Albertsson Hansen Architecture, Todd Hansen, AIA.
