With the help of an excellent volunteer, Hennepin County Library is systematically mapping its larger libraries for Google Maps. Washburn Library has appeared on Google Maps this week. It is the first Hennepin County library to appear on Google Maps that has multiple floors.
As patrons increasingly use mobile devices like the hclib app to access the library we are experimenting with additional ways to bring them library information to their handheld devices. The latest is a project to roll out interior Google maps of library locations.
We plan to do more libraries at HCL, especially those with multiple floors that will benefit the most (the maps can tell you which floor you are on and which floor to go to).
