Help Children, Special Projects Around Twin Cities via Patch and GoFundMe

Twin Cities Patch is teaming up with GoFundMe and our users to give a handful of projects each week a much-needed boost.

It’s the holiday season, which means it’s time to give.

Throughout our three years in the Twin Cities, Patch has attempted to draw our users’ support to special causes in each of our communities around the metro. Now, we’re teaming up with GoFundMe.com to find some very unique fundraising opportunities that will help small businesses,  non-profits, communities, families and kids get on their feet and get going.

Here’s a look at one of the special project this week, posted to GoFundMe by Michael Engstrom of St. Michael for a family in Osseo.

“Over the years we have had the pleasure of watching Eric and Shelly's three beautiful daughters, Samantha, Sara, and Hanna grow into wonderful young ladies,” Mike writes. “They have always been very kind to our three young boys over the years. On November 7th the Hooper family suffered the tragic loss of their father and husband, Eric Hooper, to a sudden heart attack. They are now faced with not only the grief but the difficult task of moving forward with everyday life. As we have been consoling them in these first days we also wanted to help in the years to come.”

Our other causes include families in Stillwater, Minnetonka and Woodbury/St. Paul, as well as a special cause for domestic violence awareness inspired by the lives of Anarae Schunk and Mandy Matula, who both lost their lives to violence in 2013.
