Green Up Your Laundry

by DeDe Hinrichs, Massage & Shiatsu Practitioner and Reiki Master at Spark Wellness

Static Cling in the dryer!  Snap, pop, zing, cling!  So Annoying!  Dryer sheets work great but what about all those dryer sheets left in the landfill?  Not so great!
I wanted to eliminate static but many of the alternatives were expensive, inconvenient or full of chemicals.  Then I found this!  It’s cheap, easy and earth friendly!  I've been using this for 2+ years and I love it!

DeDe's Dryer Sheet Alternative1 bottle of your favorite earth friendly LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER
2 bottles of FILTERED WATER (refill the fabric softener bottle *twice*)
2-3 GENERAL HOUSEHOLD SPONGES (cut in half)
CONTAINER WITH LID (I use a gallon size glass jar)Pour 1 bottle of liquid fabric softener in your container.  Refill fabric softener bottle *twice* with filtered water and pour into bottle.  You should have a mixture of 1 part fabric softener and 2 parts water.  Shake or stir.  Cut household sponges in half.  Place sponges in container so they can soak up the mixture.  Keep lid on container when not in use.  Shake or stir from time to time to keep blended.Place washed clothes into dryer.  Take 1-2 sponge pieces and squeeze out the excess liquid.  Place them in dryer with clothes and dry normally.  When clothes are dry, remove sponges and put back into container until the next use. I’ve used this on all types of fabrics and have never had any issues.  Having said that, please use at your own discretion.  Make sure your fabric can tolerate the mixture before using.
