Loving the Dog Park!

Well, the temperature climbed out of the sub-zeroes, so Tom bundled up and took us to the dog park! It was so very nice to get out of the house -- I love going to the park. It's so vast and being that I'm just a little girl, I was kind of scared when we first started going a few weeks back. But, Hudson told me that it was a good place and now I must admit that I agree!

There's so many things to like about going to the park. We get to go for a little car ride and I really like being in the car. Tom carries me out the door and puts me in the car because he doesn't trust me not to go running off just yet. Yeah, it's not an unfounded worry. I do tend to ignore him when I'm off my leash outside... It's just in my nature -- I'm an explorer!

At least he doesn't have to carry me far and he's very gentle about it. It's Hudson that I have to watch out for! He gets so amped up to go to the park that he's all jumping around and barking and biting at me. He doesn't hurt me or anything, but he's just such an oddball to be around -- as you can see from his photobomb. Oh well.

We take a nice short ride over to this big open area right next door to the airport. It can get kind of loud sometimes, but there are so many other dogs there that it's easy to ignore the planes. I love getting out and meeting other dogs -- sharing stories and sniffing butts. It's a lot of fun, and almost all of them are cool. There are so many different types! It kind of reminds me of being back at the shelter, except that there's a lot more room to move and everyone is happy.

Speaking of happy, you should see Hudson at the park. I mean, I say this with a smile, but he's kind of an idiot. He runs around peeing on EVERYTHING! He'll even pee on me if I'm not paying attention. I'm not kidding! I'll be standing there getting a good whiff of some yellow snow and here he comes stomping in and lifting his leg without any warning. Isis told me that he's peed on her a few times!

-sigh- Boys.

Well, we get in a good bit of running around. There's just so much to see and do! I stay pretty close to Tom, which I learned is a good way to not have him put the leash on you -- which is no fun at all. I've gotten pretty used to my name now, so when I hear his voice calling it, I pretty much know to respond.

Not all the time though -- got to keep him guessing, right?

I feel a little bit bad for Isis at the park. She has a hard time keeping up with Hudson and me. I can tell she wants to run faster, but she's 13 now. But she still gets around pretty good! We try to include her in the activities sometimes, but I think she just likes going to the park because she can beg for treats more... Tom's a total sucker about treats.

Well, suppose that's it for now. Tom told me that we'll be going to something called a "meet and greet" tomorrow where I'll get to see all the dogs from Safe Hands -- including my fellow Kentucky alumni. I can't wait to show off my tummy! It was all skinny and rashy when I first came up, which was really embarrassing. But now, I'm all smooth and clear -- not to mention nice and full. I promise a full report from this get-together. Until then, take care!
