Lake Harriet Players presents The Sound of Music

The Lake Harriet Players are proud to present one of the best-loved musicals of all time,

The Sound of Music, by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II.  This classic tale of hope, generosity, determination and love features the story of the talented von Trapp family in the time leading up to the dark days of World War II in Austria.  Maria, on the path to becominga nun, has her world turned upside down when she is sent to serve as governess for a family of seven spirited children and the widowed Capt. von Trapp.  What follows is a musical journey filled with timeless favorites such as, “Climb Every Mountain”, “Do-Re-Mi”,“My Favorite Things”, “So Long, Farewell”, “Edelweiss”, and, of course, “The Sound of Music”.

The Lake Harriet Players’ production of The Sound of Music is led by Twin Cities director, playwright and performer, Perrin Post, with musical direction by Kathleen Bloom.  The show features an intergenerational cast of more than 70 ranging in age from 5 to 85, making this a perfect show for the entire family.  In addition, the pay-what-you-can / no admission feeplan fulfills the Lake Harriet Players’ mission of making exceptional theater available for all. Also, each year we donate a portion of our proceeds to a local social service organization; this year, our designated community partner is The Sight & Hearing Association, working to enable lifetime learning by identifying preventable loss of vision and hearing in children.
