Community Corner

Mosaic "Quilting" Workshops

In this new hands-on community art project, 10 multi-paneled “quilted” mosaics will be constructed and attached to the south-facing wall exterior of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. Park.  Images will be artistic interpretations of traditional textile pattern from cultural communities.  This project is co-led and organized by KFNA and Southwest Senior Center/VOA and the project artist is Sharra Frank.   The primary goal of the Mosaic Quilting Project is to demonstrate, through visual art, the diversity of cultures in our community and celebrate their shared public space at Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

All ages welcome; those under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult. RSVP’s appreciated!

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Metropolitan Regional Arts
Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund, and by a grant from the City of Minneapolis Graffiti Prevention program.
