Which City Park Offers Snowboarding This Winter?

This winter's catalogue of activities arrives next week.

Check your mailboxes, Southwest Minneapolis—the biggest catalogue of free or nearly-free winter goings-on  arrives this week.

Every year, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board sends out a thick book  listing activities and events at the city's parks and recreation centers just before Thanksgiving. Included in the catalogue are exhaustive lists of Park Board-sponsored neighborhood parties, adult and youth sports and classes, and just where you can find things like snowshoes for rent or snowboarding slopes to enjoy—just as soon as the snow arrives.

Most crucial to parents, though, are the list of the Minneapolis Public Schools release days on which neighborhood parks will offer special programming, to give parents a hand with childcare. Specific details on each day's programming are available on this page of the Park Board website . On November 23, the day after Thanksgiving, Hiawatha Park will offer "Black Friday Fun" with crafts and games. Registration is required in advance for some release day programs.
