Weekend Planner: Spring is Here, Mayday Parade!

Our weekly roundup of events in and around Southwest Minneapolis.

Clean up your community and enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch afterwards.

Mayday Parade
When: Sunday, May 1, 2011; 1 p.m.
Where: Begins at Bloomington Avenue & 26th Street in South Minneapolis. Parade goes to the 15th Avenue South entrance of Powderhorn Park.
Why Go: This annual south Minneapolis tradition involves hundreds of giant puppets, tens of thousands of  attendees, music and a Tree of Life Ceremony in the park.
Price: Free (but donations are accepted).


When: Saturday, 8 a.m.
Where: Roberts Bird Sanctuary, 4124 Roseway Rd, Minneapolis, MN 55409
Why Go: If there is rain, lightning or thunder, the walk will be postponed.
Price: Free

Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church (4120 17th Avenue S, Minneapolis)
Why Go:
Support your local felines and enjoy a hot meal catered by Fat Lorenzo’s.

Adults $12, Children (under 10) $5

Saturday, Apr. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go:
Even if you didn’t get a chance to raise money for the actual walk, there will still be lots of other fun activities for the entire family...including your pets.
