SW Mpls Spared Large Power Outages

Tuesday morning storm knocked out power to 72,000.

A violent thunderstorm rocked Southwest Minneapolis early Tuesday morning, causing over 72,000 outages arount the Twin Cities metro area, according to information published on Xcel Energy's website. Only 75 of those outages were in Southwest Minneapolis, but more than 1,000 Minneapolis customers in other parts of the city were without power as of the time this story was published.

Most of those Southwest Minneapolis customers are estimated to have their power back by 11:00 a.m. today.
