New Cassette from Daughters of the Sun

Our weekly local music recommendations from Jake and Lisa Luck of Yeti Records on Nicollet Avenue.

After years of touring and a growing catalog of releases, Daughters of the Sun continue to maintain a reputation as one of the most forward thinking bands in the Twin Cities. More than just your typical psychadelic band, DOTS takes it's cues from Kraut, Punk, traditional music of India and Japan and the British Space Rock bands of the 1970's. Perhaps most impressive about Daughters, their sound is distinctively now, not a kitschy rewrite of a bygone psychedelic era.

Daughters of the Sun's latest release, a cassette put out by Iowa's Night People, is their darkest release to date. Listen to it alone. Copies are limited, so get it quick!

If you haven't heard Daughters of the Sun, check out "Real Touch" from 2009's record Rings.
