Multiple Overnight I-494 Lane Closures Begin Monday

Now that the weather has finally shaped up this week, crews are at work on Interstate 494.

Drivers should be aware that multiple overnight lanes and ramp closures will be sprinkled throughout this week. The following is from MnDOT:

At 10 p.m. May 6 through May 10, both directions of I-494 will be reduced to a single lane between Highway 100 and Xerxes Avenue. All lanes will re-open by 6 a.m. daily through May 10, and by 9 a.m. Saturday, May 11. 

At 10 p.m. Monday, May 6, and Wednesday, May 8, westbound I-494 between 12th Avenue South and Portland Avenue will be reduced to a single lane. All lanes will re-open by 6 a.m. the following day.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, and Thursday, May 9 eastbound I-494 between Portland Avenue and 12 Avenue South will be reduced to a single lane. All lanes will re-open by 6 a.m. the following day. 

At 7 p.m. Monday, May 6, the ramp from eastbound I-494 to southbound Highway 77 will be closed. The ramp will be opened by 6 a.m. the following day.

Additionally, at 7 p.m. Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7, the ramp from 24th Avenue to eastbound I-494 will be closed. All ramps will re-open by 6 a.m. the following days.

At 7 p.m. May 7, eastbound I-494 between 24th Avenue and 34th Avenue will be reduced to a two lanes. All lanes will re-open by 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.
