How You Could Have Beaten Monday Morning's 35W Traffic Jam

A stalled vehicle made for an hour-long backup.

This morning, Southwest Minneapolis residents awoke to a gentle blanket of snow—and the harsh realities of a winter traffic jam.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation's website, a bus had stalled near the intersection of Interstates 35W and 94 shortly after 8 a.m., causing the northbound lanes of 35W to back up all the way to the Crosstown Highway. The traffic jam lasted until a little after 9 a.m.

As winter weather sets in, make sure to check Patch's Commute page for a live, interactive map of local traffic before you set out.

35W will be a nightmare throughout the year, simply because our City leaders have reduced the Park Avenue and Portland Avenue lanes and MPH in favor of the imaginary bicycle usage. This is Minnesota, who rides bicycles in the winter, there aren't that many riders in the summer.
