Don't You Wish This Could Happen To You? Police Take Student To School

Wednesday morning, an unfortunate 12-year old woke up an hour late for school, according to a report filed by officers with the Minneapolis Police Department. 

Bravely, he started out for Anthony Middle School. By the time he reached the intersection of 48th and Nicollet, though, it was already 10:30 a.m.—an hour passed Anthony's start time. That's when officers patrolling Tangletown spotted him.

Police pulled over to question the boy, as he "appeared to be a juvenile," according to the police report's legalese. On finding out that he was late for school, they gave him a ride to Anthony and released the boy to school staff.

To top it all off, the boy seems to have escaped being cited for truancy.

Other incidents

Around 3 a.m. on Dec. 6, officers responded to reports of an attempted residential burglary on the 3300 block of Girard Avenue South. Police arrested a 45-year old Blaine man on suspicion of committing burglary, and booked him into the Hennepin County Jail on unrelated outstanding misdemeanor warrants from Stearns and Scott Counties.

Two Windom residents from the 6100 block of Nicollet Avenue South were booked into the Hennepin County Jail on outstanding misdemeanor warrants after calling police around 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 over a verbal argument they were having.

A car parked behind a building on the 3400 block of Nicollet Avenue South was stolen between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Dec. 5 by an unknown suspect using unknown means.

At 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 4, Washburn High School student was suspended, removed from school, and cited for possession of marijuana. A small amount of suspected marijuana was found on his person in a search, conducted by staff after they spotted him with the suspected drugs. The police report was not filed until the morning of Dec. 5.

Three South High School students at Southwest High School allegedly "looking for a fight" were cited for truancy around 10:10 a.m. on Dec. 4. Southwest students had reported the three girls, ages 14, 15, and 16, to staff. The police report was not filed until the morning of Dec. 5.
