Southwest Journal: 'b. Resale' Store Is Leaving Tangletown

The 'recycled fashion' boutique will reopen on Eat Street, the newspaper reported.

Come June, b. Resale won't "b" in Tangletown any more.

The clothes-and-more store is moving 28 blocks north on Nicollet Avenue on June 1, 2013: from its current location at 5456 Nicollet Ave. to 2613 Nicollet Ave., the Southwest Journal reported:

“We are sad to leave our neighborhood because the community has been supportive of us, but we are really excited for the new Eat Street location,” said owner Allison Bross-White. “We needed more foot traffic and the new neighborhood is very up-and-coming. And the fact that we’re right next to Glam Doll [Donuts] is awesome.”

The new location will be bigger and better, with twice the square footage and number of fitting rooms as the old store. The new location will also include an expanded “real” men’s section, local designer merchandising and off-street parking.

As Southwest Minneapolis Patch reported in December 2012, Bross-White has over the last two years turned her store, b. Resale, into a magnet for the local music scene, drawing customers such as hip-hop great P.O.S.:

"I've had to do a lot of pulling to get the Uptown kids down here," she told Patch. "A lot of folks (in Windom) will sell us great streetwear, but they won't necessarily be the ones to buy from us."

From sneakers and inventive graphic t-shirts to dresses and jackets, the store's ever-changing collection of streetwear is worth the journey for many. While at it's core, b. is a resale shop (think consignment shop, but where the store buys the clothing right away), it even carries the work of several local jewelry and fashion designers. Bross-White said sometimes, patrons will find their way to her store after tracking down the origins of a pair of earrings they saw a friend or passer-by wearing.

More often, though, b.'s commercial success comes from word of mouth.

"We reach out to a lot of artists, get them in the store, and then they turn around and tell their friends and fans," Bross-White explained.
