Reviewers Weigh In on New Lynhurst Pub

What do you think of their verdicts?

The first few weeks of a restaurant's life can be some of its most nerve-wracking—how will its food be received?

In the case of , the new addition to 50th and Bryant, it seems like no-one should be worried.

"There ought to be a law against those green beans—I'm addicted," exclaimed one fan on the pub's Facebook page.

Twitter, too, has been buzzing with positive words for the eatery, but perhaps the best sign is when foodie bloggers start weighing in with comments like this:

What I’ve been hearing is that the service is impeccable, the food is delicious, the tap beer selection is superior and somewhere in the conversation, it is almost guaranteed that I also hear ”and you have to get the Dragon Burger.”

That's from an anonymous Lynhurst resident who writes under the moniker KJ at The Truth is in the Pudding (the Dragon Burger is a beef patty topped with pepper jack, chipotle mayo, and pickled peppers).

But what do you think of the new place, and particularly its beverages? Does St. George have any chinks in his armor?

Fun place, very pub like. Beer was smooth. Sadly they ran out of fish and chips last Thursday night.

Oh no! I had their bangers and mash when I went on opening day but to was nearly tempted to get their fish and chips. (btw: interesting idea, bangers and mash are: sausage that's partly made with whiskey-soaked oats, I believe)

Brit sausage has its own taste and texture, and is used not only for bangers and mash but for sausage sandwiches as well. I am looking forward to checking this place out, being a Londoner born and bred. South Mpls. hasn't had decent fish and chips since Bin Minh went out of business. The fitness police have won most of the battles so that beef fat-fried fish has become a rarity, even in England (!). If George's does manage to offer a true Brit pub menu, they will make a fortune in our neighborhood. Eel Pie, anyone?

Or Stargazy Pie? Either way, I'll be interested to hear what you think of it!

I had the same problem. I did see a person with an "Obama for President" bumper stickerRead More and a pro- "gay" marriage sticker drive off with some plants. Another Democrat stealing property.

Way to keep comments inline with the story. Trolls belong under bridges not on forums like this.

I am sorry to hear this happened to you. Theft from garages is kind of popular. They usually don'tRead More break in though. Glad you filed a police report and I hope you recover your property.

Sorry to say that you didn't have good information before moving to Minneapolis. Minneapolis isRead More plagued by crime, caused by the liberal mentality that prevents police from doing their jobs. Minneapolis and Hennepin County needs a strong sheriff, such as Sheriff Joe Arpaio from Arizona, to clean house and really crack down on the criminals that have destroyed vast swaths of Minneapolis.

Comments from Southwest Minneapolis Patch's Facebook page: Laura Bischoff: "This all feelsRead More pretty hate-filled to me. An unfortunate outcome." Andrea Nicole Markley: "Yes, I thought the principal had done a pretty bang-up job of re-vamping Washburn's image."
