New Restaurant Slated For 50th And Bryant

"The Lynn on Bryant" rounds out the rebirth of a corner devastated by fire.

It has been nearly three years in the making, but it looks like the last missing piece of the 50th and Bryant business district will be put into place this fall.

Tuesday, restaurateurs Peter Ireland and Jay Peterson posted a breathless note on their blog saying they would be opening a new restaurant in the Patina building at 50th and Bryant, to be called "The Lynn on Bryant." In an email to Patch, Ireland and Peterson said they had all necessary permits in place to begin construction on the restaurant's interior soon. The Lynn will hopefully open this autumn, the duo said. 

The 50th and Bryant business district has been slowly rebuilt following a devastating Feb. 2010 fire that demolished the former location of a Patina store, plus the homes of popular restaurants Heidi's and Blackbird Cafe. 

While nothing on the menu is finalized, Peterson wrote to Patch, the Lynn's website offers some hints of what to expect.

Entries on their list of "menu ideas" run the gamut of tweaked or rebooted traditional fair, starting with simple dishes like baked gnocchi served in "a cheese sauce" and ending with the Pike Dog—Northern Pike mousse, crisped and topped with mayo, chopped egg, and pickles.

Peterson told Patch in an email that food, "updated bistro fare," would be driven by seasonal ingredients and that prices would be "moderate."

While many in the neighborhood will undoubtedly welcome a new restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plans of The Lynn posted on the business's blog show an 8-table patio proposed on the alley side of the Patina building. A public hearing for The Lynn's proposed patio will first have to be approved by the City Council before it can go ahead, giving neighbors a chance to weigh in on the patio proposal.

Do you plan to patronize "The Lynn" or would you rather see something else in the 50th and Bryant space?

I would like to see more on the menu. As a Type 2 diabetic, I prefer lower carb menu items and lots of vegetables

I hear you—Ireland and Peterson told me they won't have it ready for a couple of weeks...but stay tuned!
