Kingfield Restaurant Giving Back To Community

Cafe Ena and other Mexican restaurants helping communities south of the border.

According to the Twin Cities Daily Planet, Kingfield restaurant Cafe Ena and its fellow members of the Mexican Restaurant Association of Minnesota (MERA-MN) are spending this winter giving back to the country that nurtured their cuisine.

Dismayed by the poverty and lack of economic opportunity in his home state of Morelos, just south of Mexico City, MERA-MN Vice President Lorenzo Ariza is mobilizing local Mexican restaurants to help create economic development programs in Mexico.

First step, the Planet reports, is helping farmers in Mexico and Mexican farmers in Minnesota form co-ops to help create reliable markets in Minnesota for farmers in Morelos.
