Details of New Fulton Restaurant Emerge for Hearing

Fulton residents are evidently looking forward to living next to a purveyor of exotic wines and good food, proposed to open next year in the former Blockbuster Video store near 50th and France.

That's according to documents city staff will be presenting to the Minneapolis City Council's business regulations committee on Monday. The committee, which meets at 1:30 p.m. in City Hall's Room 317, will vote on whether to grant a wine and beer license to The Red Cow, which would take up the entire vacant storefront at the corner of Drew Avenue South and 50th Street.

When representatives of The Red Cow met with nearby residents to gather feedback on their proposed eatery, the staff report said, most feedback was positive, with some residents concerned about parking and late-night noise from the proposed oudtoor patio on the corner. According to the same staff report, The Red Cow will seat 130 diners inside, and 34 on the patio.

Red Cow owner Luke Shimp has said he will be offering the neighborhood an enormous, unique wine list, with prices per glass running from $6 to $32. The restaurant will also serve gourmet hamburgers and an array of different menu items.
