Advanced Stages of March Madness: Where Do You Watch Near Southwest Minneapolis?

Your bracket's broken but you still want to see who wins the 2013 NCAA men's basketball tournament. What place near Southwest Minneapolis is the best for catching the action?

As March Madness heads into the Final Four stage, where around Southwest Minneapolis do you like to pull up a chair or stool to take it in?

In 2012, Patch readers voted for Joe Senser's Sports Theater in Bloomington/Edina as the best place in the west metro to spend March Madness. Other options in that 2012 Readers' Choice poll were JJ's Clubhouse (Golden Valley), Schuller's Tavern (Golden Valley), Champp's (Minnetonka), Scoreboard Bar & Grill (Minnetonka), Wild Boar (Hopkins), Mainstreet Bar & Grill (Hopkins), Park Tavern (St. Louis Park), Bunny's Bar & Grill (St. Louis Park), and Tavern on France (Edina).

Within Southwest Minneapolis, Chatterbox Pub got some support in a separate 2012 poll that also included Tailgate Sports Cafe and Driftwood Char Bar.

This year, at the Southwest Minneapolis Patch Facebook page, a few of those names reappeared in comments and suggestions:

  • "In southwest? If someone knows, Please, please tell me. I always end up at champps or joe Sensers, but I'd love to stay close to home."
  • "Doesn't exist, to my knowledge, primarily due to city ordinances limiting the establishment of bar/tavern/pubs in SW Mpls. Like most people in SW, you'll have to head out of the 'hood for this - try McCoy's or Bunny's in SLP for the closest. Please remember to arrange a designated driver or cab before heading back to SW. It would be much easier and safer to walk/bike somewhere close to home."
  • "Ya. Bunny's or Champps in Richfield are probably closest. I think I noticed some big screens at the new Red Cow, but I have not been in yet and don't know how try would handle audio."
