35th And Nicollet To Close For Two Weeks

Businesses will still be open and accessible during construction.

Starting July 9, get ready to find a new way to get to your favorite Nicollet Avenue businesses.

In advance of completely rebuilding this stretch of Nicollet Avenue later this summer, City of Minneapolis construction crews are digging up the Nicollet/35th Street intersection in order to repair a storm sewer system beneath the street. Weather permitting, the plan is to be done with work by July 23rd, according to a statement emailed to reporters.

The rest of Nicollet Avenue will be open to traffic while construction goes on.

"Parking should actually not be impacted too much because they are just working on the intersection," said Jen Borger, a staff member for the Nicollet-East Harriet Business Association. "There may be a few spots lost but for the most part there should still be plenty of parking (such as it is)."
