What if a kid was mayor for a day? What if that kid was you?
The League of Minnesota Cities is holding an essay contest for Minnesota elementary school students (ages 7–12) on the topic question:
"Cities do lots of things to make our lives better. They provide services such as clean water, fire, libraries, parks and recreation, police, senior services, sewers and garbage, streets and sidewalks. If you were mayor for a day, what would you do to make these services even better than they already are for all the people in your city?"
The essay should be no longer than one page and be mailed to LMC in an envelope postmarked by Nov. 1, 2013.
Two winners in each of two age groups (7–9 and 10–12 years of age on Nov. 1, 2013) will receive $100 prizes.
