New Cafe Planned for Tangletown

Chef Hector Ruiz wants to serve Washburn High School students.

The first round of tapas out of Hector Ruiz's new Rincon 38 restaurant in Kingfield, and the man behind Tangletown's Cafe Ena is planning a third eatery in Southwest Minneapolis.

According to the Southwest Journal, Ruiz wants to open a new, more casual spot at 48th and Grand to offer healthy, fast meals to Washburn High School students that can compete with the fast food some students seek out during lunch. 

The Minneapolis Public Schools rolled a much-touted and generally popular series of new menu items last school year (During the trial period, students called the weekly new menu day "Real Food Thursday," and showed up to lunch in droves).

The new cafe will have around 36 seats, Ruiz told the Journal.
