Pavement Removals Complete Between 56th and 60th Streets: Penn Avenue South Reconstruction Update

The public works department updates residents on the next steps of the Penn Avenue South reconstruction project that began April 10.

The reconstruction of Penn Avenue South is well underway.

Meyer Contracting crews completed pavement removals between 56th and 60th streets this week, and are now working on storm sewers. In addition, CenterPoint Energy is working on gas services between those streets.

The first phase of road reconstruction began April 10. Penn Avenue is closed thru traffic between West 54th and 60th streets. However, all east/west cross-streets, including 60th and 54th streets, are open. In addition, businesses are also open through the construction.
