The project is part of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board's 5-year capital improvement program. The program includes $225,000 for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park playground. According to the project page, playground and site improvements consist of reconfiguring of playground containers for both pre-kindergarten and elementary age kids, and replacing the play equipment.
