UPDATED: East Harriet KiteFest Cancelled

The warm weather claims another casualty.

Update 1/14/12: The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board cancelled the 2012 KiteFest after first postponing it due to worries about thin ice on Lake Harriet.

After more than a week of unseasonably warm temperatures, the East Harriet Farmstead Neighborhood Association has decided to push back the until Jan. 21. The festival was originally slated for Jan. 14

The popular neighborhood festival is usually held on the ice of Lake Harriet to give enough space for kite-flying. With thin ice a real safety concern, though, residents will have to wait.
