Bicyclists Beware: Portions of Midtown Greenway, Lake Calhoun Trails to Close

Beginning Monday, Oct. 7, the Midtown Greenway between Hiawatha (Hwy 55) and Minnehaha avenues will be closed. Segments of the off-street bicycle and pedestrian trails around Lake Calhoun will also be resurfaced next week.

Bicyclists will want to be aware of a couple of trail closures beginning next week in Minneapolis.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 7, the Midtown Greenway between Hiawatha (Hwy 55) and Minnehaha avenues will be closed. The closure is expected to last through Monday, Oct. 14 and is needed to install new foundations as part of Xcel Energy’s Hiawatha Transmission Project.

Follow the marked detour via the Sabo Bridge, E 26th St, and Minnehaha Ave S.

Segments of the off-street bicycle and pedestrian trails around Lake Calhoun will also be resurfaced beginning on Monday, October 7 (weather dependent).

Trail users will be redirected to adjacent trails as appropriate for the duration of the project.
