2013 Twin Cities Pride Festival Guide

The festival officially kicks off Friday night.

The 41st annual Twin Cities Pride festival is set for June 28-29 at Loring Park in Downtown Minneapolis, capping off a week-long celebration of gay pride in the cities.

The festival is free and open to the public. Some events within the festival have a fee. The following are some of the weekend's events:

Friday, June 28

What: 2nd Annual Beer Dabble; the official kick off to the 2013 festival.
Where: Loring Park, 1382 Willow St. in Minneapolis.
When: 5:30-9:30 p.m.
Details: Sample 25 craft beers from local breweries including Herkimer, Bad Weather Brewing Company, Dangerous Man and Boom Island. There will also be 25 local food trucks and food carts including Natedog’s Quality Wieners, A Cupcake Social, Hola Arepa, Anchor Fish and Chips and Chef Shack; live music from Tickle Torture, Koo Koo Kanga Roo and Apollo Cobra.

Saturday, June 29

Festival hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

What: Pride in Concert
Where: Loring Park Main Stage
When: 5:30 p.m.
Details: Tickets are $10 in advance an $20 at the gate. This year's show features L'Assassins, The New Standards, Neon Hitch and Nina Sky. Buy tickets here.

Sunday, June 30

Festival hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What: Pride Parade
Where: Hennepin Avenue; the parade begins at 3rd Street and ends at Spruce Place.
When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Details: The parade features more than 120 units community members, businesses, city officials and supporters of the festival. Among the participants are Best Buy, Minneapolis Fire and Police departments, Hell's Kitchen and K-TWIN. Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe is this year's grand marshal. Other Events

Twin Cities Pride Art Exhibition
Where: Loring Park
When: Saturday and Sunday
Details: The art show opened at Aloft Hotel on June 21, 2013 with the announcement that 14 local artists would be featured for this year's show. The exhibition will be featured during the festival in the park.
