Mark Andrew's Mayoral Campaign Continues to Build Momentum, Walter Mondale Endorses Andrew

Mark Andrew’s mayoral campaign continues to unite Minneapolis, drawing support from all over Minneapolis. Today, Vice President Walter Mondale has joined the campaign as an honorary co-chair. In the month since the DFL convention on June 15th, Andrew has been endorsed by State Senators Jeff Hayden and Kari Dziedzic, State Representative Diane Loeffler, Firefighters Local 82, Unite Here! Local 17, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities College Democrats, the United Transportation Union, Congresswoman Betty McCollum, Jenny Arneson of the Minneapolis School Board, Carol Becker of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, and community activist Mohamud Noor.

In addition to uniting the city geographically, Mark Andrew’s campaign is bringing together young and old, business and labor, activists and the establishment. Laura Pratt, President of the University of Minnesota College Democrats, noted excitedly that Walter Mondale was one of her progressive heros growing up while former Schiff co-chair and education activist Mohamud Noor endorsed Andrew, stating that he is the right candidate to build equity in Minneapolis.

In a clear demonstration of Andrew’s ability to build coalitions, Unite Here! Local 17 and Jim Graves, former congressional candidate and owner of Graves 601 Hotel, support Andrew because of his ability to both fight for working families and encourage business growth.
