Rosemount local man Shad Ireland is a dialysis patient that is fighting to earn a spot at Ironman Kona (the world Ironman Championships). Running a Triathlon with kidney disease is medically impossible, and this man has completed around 10 Ironman competitions and 20 Triathlons. He's dedicated his life to helping patients like him understand that healthy eating and exercise can improve there diagnosis and prolong their lives (most patients only live 3-5 years).

He is now 40 years old and his complications will not allow him to race at the same pace as healthy contestants. Ironman will not let him run Handicapped, so he is making his last effort to make it to nationals by entering the contest posted below, but he need the help of as many individuals as he can get to vote everyday until July 3rd so he may win his spot.

Winning this spot will grant him a national platform to teach other patients about the benefits of exercise anf healthy diet in relation to renal failure. He has lived 5 times the expected life span of most patients.
