Video: Dibble: 'A Bad Deal' Ends Shutdown

Sen. Scott Dibble, who represents Southwest Minneapolis, said Tuesday the new budget deal that ends the state government shutdown was the product of extremist views held Republicans in the state legislature.

Sen. Scott Dibble said Tuesday during a recess of the special session that the shutdown was "a complete breakdown of our system, a failure to compromise."

Rep. Paul Thissen also hit out at the budget deal in a speech on the House floor last night.

"The fact is that this is a beg-borrow-and-steal budget," he said. "It borrows and steals from Minnesota's future and begs the people of our state to look the other way as once again you simply kick the can down the road."
