See Inside $2.9 Million East Harriet Home

House is second-most expensive in SW Minneapolis.

Ever wondered what a house with commanding views of Lake Harriet costs? Between $2.9 and $4.6 million, it turns out.

A few weeks ago, we showcased the most expensive house for sale in Southwest Minneapolis, an expansive $4.6 million manse that seemed straight out of the gilded age, if you overlooked the hammock bed in the poolside bedroom.

Now, check out these pictures from the second-most expensive house on the market today. Like its peer, it sits steps away from Lake Harriet, with a gorgeous view of the water. It's quite a bit smaller, though, at 6,991 square feet to 8,655 square feet. Still, its listing on AOL Real Estate boasts of the house's private movie theater, bar, bluestone patio, and "uncompromising qualities."

They must be some fine qualities—this house is a good $1 million more expensive than two other nearby houses on the same street.

And the best part? There's an open house here from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

At 503 days on the market, I have to guess this property is over-priced.

For people interested in Minneapolis' lakes and the houses that surround them, there's a great opportunity coming up. The new book "Legendary Homes of Minneapolis Lakes" is coming out in November. The author Betty Hemmel previously wrote "Legendary Homes of Lake Minnetonka."

November 3rd at Hennepin History Museum, you can support the museum and get a FREE copy of "Legendary Homes of the Minneapolis Lakes." Meet the author and see the photos by Karen Melvin.

Tickets are just $65 (only $55 for HHM members) and available here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/273202
