Salt Cave To Open Up In Tangletown
Claimed benefits include reducing negative effects of asthma, allergy, and cystic fibrosis.
So far, its web presence is a sea of inky blackness surrounding a giant orange-and-pink crystal, but according to the Southwest Journal, Minnesota's first "salt cave" will be opening on Nicollet Avenue later this month.
“My goal in opening The Salt Cave is to improve the quality of life for people who are suffering from asthma, allergies, cystic fibrosis, and other problems,” one of the owners told the Southwest Journal.
The business will operate out of a storefront at 4811 Nicollet Avenue. Proponents of other salt caves—climate-controlled rooms with walls lined with pink Himalayan salt—say they are reviving old European traditions of using salt mines and caves for therapy. Some claim it's possible to ameliorate everything from hangovers to serious respiratory illnesses with sessions sitting in the salty air, saying it "brings the body back into ballance." However, these treatments haven't been given the nod by the Food and Drug Administration, so there's no quick way of knowing how true their claims are.

The proof is in the pudding. Generations of Europeans have enjoyed the benefits of the Himilayan Salt. Allegy sufferers and other with respiratory diseases should at least give it a try (a least 10 sessions for a full benefit).
