Authorities Arrest Alleged Bike Burglar

The accused is living in a halfway house and on parole for a third-degree burglary case.

Minneapolis Police have arrested a Windom resident for stealing a bicycle from an open garage on the 3700 block of Vincent Ave South, in Linden Hills.

Hennepin County attorneys have charged Lewis Crawford, 40, with one count of third-degree burglary. The complaint says two witnesses flagged down a squad car in Linden Hills after seeing someone matching Crawford's description walk into a nearby alley and ride a bike out at high speed.

The complaint says the officers found Crawford, who both witnesses later identified as the man they saw on the bicycle, riding around Lake Harriet. When they approached on foot, the complaint says, he left the bicycle—a black Specialized-brand—by the trolley bridge on William Berry Parkway and fled for a short distance on foot.
