Martin Luther King, Jr. Park now has a brand-spanking-new set of (rehabbed) basketball courts.

Thanks to a generous donation from arguably one of the best players in the NFL, Larry Fitzgerald, Jr., the courts recently got a facelift. They were inaugurated last week, with Fitzgerald playing a game with area children in the same park where he played as a child.

"King Park never shortchanged me, and I don't want to shortchange it," Fitzgerald said when his donation was announced.

"We are deeply thankful for the generous donation from Mr. Fitzgerald," said Sixth Park District Commissioner Brad Bourn. "It was an honor to meet him and witness the positive impact his contribution has on youth at King Park.
