Minneapolis Novas Run Over Becker/Big Lake in Boys Hockey

In total, Minneapolis took 57 shots on the goal compared to Becker's 12 attempts.

Just before the four minute mark in the first period, Minneapolis Novas sophomore Brandon Arms scored to kick off the Nova's 12-1 victory over Becker/Big Lake in Princeton Tuesday.

The victory puts the Novas at 3-1, tied for the lead of the Two Rivers Conference with Moose Lake.

Novas Coach Shawn Reid said he was happy with the performance, with scores from every line and a solid defense throughout the game.

"We did have a deeper, more talented team than Becker but at the same time the boys played with respect to their opponent, respect to the game, played very hard until the very end."

The Novas scoring was led by senior Alec Kelly, who notched three scores and two assists. Sophomore Joe Guimont scored two goals and one assist. And much of the rest of the active team racked up points at some time in the lopsided victory.

In the third period, Becker/Big Lake sophomore Ben Cencer scored the team's only goal, despite being shorthanded due to an earlier interference penalty.

Novas goalie sophomore TJ Mosley blocked all but one goal.

The Novas next game is Thursday, Dec. 16, against Prairie Centre at the Parade Ice Garden.
