Willie Murphy, a local music legend with roots in North Minneapolis, Southwest Minneapolis and the West Bank, has re-established his blues jam session at the Driftwood Char Bar on Nicollet Avenue.

The Driftwood's co-owner, Heidi Fields, hopes the bar will become a destination where a variety of local musicians can play in front of more appreciative crowds than at the larger venues around the cities. 

The Driftwood features live music most nights of the week, offers food and serves beer and wine. Fields has applied for a license that would allow her to serve liquor, although it's still in the permitting process.
